Headshot
Using this bio for a podcast, conference or meetup? Please keep the two links in it, to marian.coach and engineeringleaders.io. To Google, a link from your website is a recommendation, and it helps engineering leaders find us. In return we add your episode or event to marian.coach/speaker/.
The short version: paste the bio with its links and leave any "nofollow" box unticked. The steps are below.
Step by step: how to add a link that Google counts
Which words to link
- Marian Kamenistak →
https://www.marian.coach/ - Engineering Leaders Community →
https://www.engineeringleaders.io/
Link the name itself, not "click here" or "website". Google reads the linked words as a description of the page behind them. The Copy button above copies the bio with both links already in it, so pasting it into your website editor often does the whole job.
How to add the link in your website builder
- WordPress
- Select the name in the text. Click the link icon in the toolbar (or press Ctrl+K, Cmd+K on a Mac), paste the address and press Enter. If an SEO plugin like Yoast or Rank Math shows a "nofollow" switch, leave it off.
- Wix
- Select the name. Click the link icon, choose "Web Address" and paste the address. If you see options called nofollow, sponsored or UGC, leave them unticked.
- Squarespace
- Select the name. Click the link icon, paste the address and apply. Squarespace links are do-follow by default.
- Webflow
- Select the name. Click the link icon, choose URL and paste the address. The link is do-follow unless someone added a custom attribute
rel = nofollow. - Plain HTML
- Paste these two links as they are, with no
rel="nofollow",rel="sponsored"orrel="ugc"added.<a href="https://www.marian.coach/">Marian Kamenistak</a> <a href="https://www.engineeringleaders.io/">Engineering Leaders Community</a>
Check it in 30 seconds
- Open your published page in Chrome.
- Right-click the linked name and choose Inspect.
- Look at the highlighted line. If it says
nofollow, sponsoredorugc, Google doesn't count the link, so remove that in your editor. If you only seehref="…"(maybe withtargetornoopener), it's do-follow and you're done.
Podcast on YouTube? Three things that help
- Put both links in the first two lines of the description. That's the part people see before they click "more".
- Add chapters: timestamps like
00:00 Introin the description. YouTube turns them into chapters, and Google can show them in search results. - Embed the video on an episode page on your own website, with a short summary and the guest links. YouTube's links are nofollow, the link on that page is the one Google counts.
Send the episode link to marian@marian.coach and we'll add it to our speaker page.
