Engineering leadership mentor in Czechia
You picked up the EM or director title at a Czech scale-up, and the hard part started the week after. Nearly everything written about the job assumes American budgets and an American hiring pool. Prague, Brno and Ostrava do not run on either.
Sessions run one to one, in Czech or in English. I've held the seat in this country myself: Mews engineering through a Series C, then leadership at Manta right up until IBM bought it.
- 3,400+ sessions
- 300+ engineering leaders
- 3,200+ ELC community
- 9.17/10 across 300+ reviews
Why a mentor who knows the Czech market
Most of what circulates as engineering leadership thinking is imported, and it quietly assumes three things: that you can double a salary, hire from an endless pool, and win board approval for a two-year bet. Czech companies rarely offer any of the three.
My mentees run engineering at Mews, Rohlik, Apify, Ataccama, Kosik and Česká spořitelna. Between them they have already been through most of what is currently on your desk, and borrowing that's the real shortcut here.
Sessions run online. When it makes sense, we meet in person in Prague: kickoff, milestone debrief, or at an ELC meetup.
Plugged into the Czech engineering scene
The community I founded, ELC, is 3,100+ members strong and meets in person twelve times a year, mostly in Prague. Its 2026 edition filled a room with 500+ engineering leaders, pulled in speakers from Netflix and Stripe, and got picked up by Czech Television.
The network is part of the deal. A hire, a reorg, or a salary band that only makes sense in this country: there's usually somebody I can put you in touch with who settled the same question last year, and I generally know who is hiring.
What mentees say
“No matter what topic I bring up, Marian always has practical and actionable advice. In my new role, after just four months, I had to let go of a significant number of people who were also my friends. Marian provided invaluable guidance. I was able to part ways with everyone on good terms.”
“What I appreciated a lot is directness and honesty in mentoring, challenging my own beliefs of what is possible and at the same time being very human oriented.”
“Marian helped me to stabilize and mature our engineering in Apify after a period of growth. Mainly, he changed how I view my role and the role of the engineering department in the organization.”
Frequently asked
Do you mentor in Czech?+
Yes. Czech and Slovak native speaker, English first with international mentees. Mixing languages within one session is common.
Can my company pay for it?+
81% of my mentees are, and Czech procurement rarely blinks at it. The invoice carries full VAT details and goes straight to your employer.
Do we meet in person?+
Mostly online. In person in Prague when it makes sense: intro, kickoff, or a milestone debrief.
How fast do mentees see results?+
Most hit their first big milestone in 4-6 sessions. That's 2-3 months at the usual cadence.
How much does engineering leadership mentoring cost?+
Published, so nobody has to sit through a call to hear a number: 430 EUR a session, 2,580 EUR for the first quarter of six sessions, 790 EUR monthly if you want the retainer instead. Your employer pays exactly the same. Full pricing.
