Engineering leadership mentor in Czechia

You got the EM or director title at a Czech scale-up. Now the hard part: the playbooks you read are written for Silicon Valley budgets and Silicon Valley hiring pools. Prague, Brno and Ostrava run on different constraints.

I mentor 1:1 in Czech or English. Been in the seat: built the Mews engineering org through Series C, led engineering at Manta before IBM acquired it.

Why a mentor who knows the Czech market

Most engineering leadership content is recycled US thinking. It assumes you can double salaries, hire from a bottomless pool, and get board buy-in for two-year bets. Czech companies rarely work like that.

My mentees lead engineering at Mews, Rohlik, Apify, Ataccama, Kosik and Česká spořitelna. Whatever you are stuck on, someone in this exact market was stuck on it before you. That is the shortcut you are buying.

Sessions run online. When it makes sense, we meet in person in Prague: kickoff, milestone debrief, or at an ELC meetup.

Plugged into the Czech engineering scene

The Engineering Leaders Community I founded runs 2,000+ members and 12 in-person meetups a year, most of them in Prague. The 2026 ELC Conference brought 500+ engineering leaders into one room, with speakers from Netflix and Stripe. Czech Television covered it.

That network is part of the deal. Stuck on a hire, a reorg, or a salary band question specific to the Czech market? I can usually point you to three people who solved it last year. I also know which CTOs are hiring right now.

What mentees say

“No matter what topic I bring up, Marian always has practical and actionable advice. In my new role, after just four months, I had to let go of a significant number of people who were also my friends. Marian provided invaluable guidance. I was able to part ways with everyone on good terms.”
David Jerabek · Chapter Lead, Rohlik
“What I appreciated a lot is directness and honesty in mentoring, challenging my own beliefs of what is possible and at the same time being very human oriented.”
Oleg Smirsky · Head of SW Development, Česká spořitelna
“Marian helped me to stabilize and mature our engineering in Apify after a period of growth. Mainly, he changed how I view my role and the role of the engineering department in the organization.”
Marek Trunkát · CTO, Apify

Yes. Czech and Slovak native speaker, English first with international mentees. Mixing languages within one session is common.

81% of my mentees are company-funded. The invoice goes to your employer with full VAT details ready for procurement. Most CTOs approve it within a day.

Do we meet in person?+

Mostly online. In person in Prague when it makes sense: intro, kickoff, or a milestone debrief.

How fast do mentees see results?+

Most hit their first big milestone in 4-6 sessions. That is 2-3 months at the usual cadence.

How much does engineering leadership mentoring cost?+

Public pricing: 430 EUR per 60-min session, 2,166 EUR for a 6-session first quarter, or a 790 EUR/month sparring retainer. Companies get prepaid packs at 292 EUR per session. Full details at marian.coach/pricing.
