Central Europe

Engineering leadership mentor in Central Europe

Building Silicon Valley-level product tech leaders in the Heart of Europe. That is the mission, and it is not a metaphor: I mentor engineering leaders across Czechia, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Austria, from the middle of the region, in its own context.

Been in the seat: built the Mews engineering org through Series C, led engineering at Manta before IBM acquired it. 3,400+ mentoring sessions with 300+ leaders, from staff engineer to CTO.

Central European constraints, Central European playbook

The leadership advice you find online assumes a market that does not exist here: bottomless hiring pools, comp budgets that double, boards that wait two years. Central European scale-ups run tighter. Mentoring that ignores that is theory.

My mentees lead engineering at Mews, Apify, Rohlik, Ataccama, Kiwi.com and Česká spořitelna. The problems repeat across the region: hiring against local salary bands, growing managers out of senior engineers, making a board understand engineering. Someone in this market solved your problem last year; I connect you to them.

A network in the middle of Europe

The Engineering Leaders Community I founded runs 2,000+ members across Central Europe, 12 in-person meetups a year, and an annual conference that put 500+ engineering leaders in one hall with speakers from Netflix and Stripe.

Sessions run online, in English, Czech or Slovak. In person in Prague when it makes sense: kickoff, milestone debrief, or an ELC meetup.

What mentees say

“Marian was part of helping scale up our technical teams from 35 to 100 people during his time with Mews. One of his key successes was around creating visibility on engineering output and ensuring we were able to more effectively reach our goals.”
Matthijs Welle · CEO, Mews
“His feedback was always direct and specific, never generic, and every session gave me something I could apply right away.”
Filip Masár · Staff Engineer, Kiwi.com
“What I appreciated a lot is directness and honesty in mentoring, challenging my own beliefs of what is possible and at the same time being very human oriented.”
Oleg Smirsky · Head of SW Development, Česká spořitelna
