The ICF Global Coaching Study 2025 puts the all-coaching average at 234 USD per hour globally, 297 USD in North America. C-suite specialists charge 1,500 to 3,000 USD or more. Every US pricing guide will tell you that much. What none of them cover is what it costs in Central Europe, and what you actually get for the money. My own rate is public: 430 EUR per 60-minute session, 361 EUR in the first-quarter pack, same rate when your company pays. One minute, no email. ## What actually moves the price - **Credentials.** The ICF ladder roughly doubles the rate at each step. What it certifies is coaching method, not whether the coach ever ran an engineering org. - **Client seniority.** The same coach charges a VP more than an EM, and the work isn’t harder, the budget is just bigger. - **Geography, less than you think.** Big-city rates run 20 to 30 percent above smaller markets, but virtual coaching has compressed the gap. - **Who pays.** Corporate rates usually sit above individual rates. Mine don’t: companies pay the same public rate as individuals, 361 EUR per session in prepaid packs of 6, no corporate markup. ## Coach or mentor? For engineering leaders, wrong question first A coach asks questions. A mentor has walked the same road and tells you what worked. When your reorg is on fire, an hour of reflective questions won’t do the trick. What helps is someone who has done the reorg, got burned, and can point at where you’ll get burned. And one thing you won’t find anywhere in the rate table above: rate a session under 7/10 and you don’t pay for it. The average across 3,400+ sessions is 9.17/10, so the guarantee costs me almost nothing, which is exactly the point. Against the table: 430 EUR sits above the CEE executive band and inside the US mid-range. What the premium buys is the fact that your problem has already crossed my desk, usually more than once. The napkin: replacing one burned-out engineering director runs 40,000 to 80,000 EUR once you count recruiter fees, ramp-up time and the delivery that stalls in between. Most mentees reach their first major milestone in 4 to 6 sessions, which is 2 to 3 months of the calendar. ## FAQ **Why do most coaches hide their prices?** Quote-after-a-call lets a coach price by the budget you reveal. A public price list cuts both ways: you compare before you talk, the coach commits to one number for everyone. **Will my company pay for coaching?** 78% of my mentees are company-sponsored, usually from the L&D budget. Getting strong in the role: 10 to 15 sessions over 6 to 9 months. **Are cheap coaches worth trying first?** A 150 USD generalist sells a different product than a domain mentor, not a cheaper version of the same one.
